Are Warthogs Dangerous - Warthogs are members of the same family as domestic pigs, but they present a very different appearance. If there is water, warthogs will seek it out and often submerge themselves to cool off. They will also roll in the mud for the same purpose—and find relief from insects. Birds also help these pigs in their fight against insects; foxes and other species of animals sometimes ride on their birds, eat small animals that attack their skin.
These African pigs often use empty burrows made by aardvarks. Instead of fighting, they often choose to fly, and look for a cave to use as a place to hide. They usually go inside, using their teeth to carefully guard the entrance.
Warthogs also use these burrows to have their children. Females have four litters or less, which they nurse for about four months.
